POWDER COATING METAL FILLER


                        Revolutionary one part filler that is solvent free!!!!   

We have developed non hazardous, powder-coating filler that is a new, revolutionary product that will allow powder-coating applicators to repair parts with minor damage, pits, voids and other imperfections.     

Thermobond 3 is easy to use.  Remove lid and heat the 1 lb. jar of product for 15-20 seconds and stir until it is a soft consistency.  Then spread it on and bake it into place using the same cure cycle as a standard epoxy or polyester powder.  

SURFACE PREPARATION: The surface must be clean, dry and free of wax, oil, grease and any other contaminates.  Lightly rough up the surface by sanding, wire wheel, or abrasive blast to enhance adhesion properties and promote mechanical bonding.  Standard in-line pretreatment systems such as iron or zinc phosphate are preferred.  Thermobond 3 should never be applied over a damp, wet or contaminated surface.  

APPLICATION:  Using a clean-gloved hand, firmly press a thin layer over the surface area to secure a good bond to the entire surface.  Now apply the desired thickness (not more than 1/4 inch recommended).  The part must then be heat cured.  Another 1/4 of an inch can be applied for deeper dents then cured.  This process can be repeated as many times as needed in 1/4 of an inch at a time.

The filler will not air dry, it must be cured.   

Longer cure time at a lower temperature is recommended to allow the material to adhere properly to the substrate without blistering.  Thermobond 3 will not harden without adequate heat.

One of the many applications that Thermobond 3 is currently being used for is to fill minor gaps and voids in outdoor cast furniture.  Many cast items have voids and porous areas that need to be filled.  Thermobond 3 has proven to be a very effective way to bridge the gaps and voids when powder coating is to be applied as the final finish.
